Trip of a lifetime....

I am so excited to share that I am leaving on a big overseas trip TOMORROW! It still hasn't quite hit me yet but I will be travelling over one month going to New York City, Washington DC, Miami and then taking a cruise to Tenerife, Palma, Barcelona, Nice, Florence and Rome. Trip of a lifetime? So far absolutely! I am so so excited to go to NYC to see all the beautiful sights that it has to offer, I'll be going to lots of art galleries, theatres (already booked tickets for Death of a Salesman with Phillip Seymour Hoffman directed by Mike Nichols - you know the guy who directed movies like 'Closer', 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf', 'The Graduate' and the list goes on....) And of course the shopping!!!! My next place that I am looking forward to seeing is Barcelona (mainly for architectural reasons - Gaudi's Basilica, I cannot wait to see that!). And of course ROME - I am only going to be there for three days, so I'm hoping that will be enough to see some of the amazing historical sites. I am renting a cosy little apartment there with a beautiful terrace overlooking old Rome buildings - to have the "Rome" experience - seems like a dream.  And of course I am dying to see all the other mentioned places as well...You'd be crazy not to!

Looking for the right NYC guide....photo via instagram

Sagrada Familia Nave Room Detail - isn't that just magnificent? So 'Out of this World'.

I'll be uploading images of my trip to Instagram (decorislikebutter) and will try to upload some images on blogger too. Arrivederci for now...

La Dolce Vita

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Paloma from the famous blog La Dolce Vita and the editor of former High Gloss magazine which I've featured here numerous of times for having me on her "Dream Home" series. I had so much fun putting together my dream home. Paloma's blog was one of the first blogs I got addicted to when I discovered decor blogging. So it was a very special treat to be featured there. Check out her blog if you haven't already.

APT with LSD....

It's always such a treat to see how people live and what they fill their lives with. I especially love seeing a home that is not afraid of making a home really personal. A home that is free spirited and bold can be powerfully charming. This particular APT with LSD feature I personally find very fetching. Can't help but admire the use of art, colour and prints and just this feeling of comfort. One of the reasons why I love APT with LSD is that it never disappoints when it comes to featuring homes that are "real" and personal. So loving the art in the third pic. What are some of your favourite aspects?

The Great Fairy Tale.....

What is it about weddings that us (girls) get so infatuated with? When I was a bride (nearly five years ago) I went a little crazy, you know looking for the "perfect" - dress, cake, music/band, flowers, shoes, make up, hair, car, bridesmaids wear, seating arrangement (isn't that a nightmare?) and of course the reception. I mean I loved the WHOLE process of it (as stressful as it was at times), but I still don't quite understand the logic behind the infatuation that I myself felt when wanting to organise such an event - besides just wanting to look fabulous and having an excuse for purchasing a gorgeous bridal gown - that I just can't find an excuse to wear again. But, is that what's it all about? Are we all some just obsessed with a beautiful dress and a a big party in our honour? I mean besides of course wanting to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and all that other romantic stuff...not that you need a marriage certificate for that. But, when I saw this recent publication from Harper's Bazaar Brides magazine I forgot all my logical explanations and I just gushed.... Logical? No. Romantic? Yes. And maybe this is what it's actually all about - Romance. We all need it, we don't get enough of it and according to to legend we all love a good fairy tale and a party like this does have the capacity to bring romance and our deep inner fantasies to life.....Thoughts? Following the theme - below are some gorgeous photos from Harper's Bazaar of Taylor Tomazi Hill's wedding - artistic director of Moda Operandi, can also view her home here... First thing Monday, I'll be buying myself a copy....

Fashion Art....

With the arrival of winter - I find myself drawn to more neutral yet still vivid tones...I guess a natural inclination for most. I recently discovered the designs of Gary Bigeni a fashion designer from Sydney whose clothes have that perfect wintery edge. Luxurious fabrics, vivid tones, fluid draping (great for hiding the ramifications of a dessert addiction during the colder months- or maybe that's just me) and simple - sometimes all I need is a beautifully created garment that goes with everything. In this Fashion Art series - I paired his designs with Frank Pekera's works (an artist from Connecticut) whose works have this wintery puzzled glow. Check out more of their works at above links... I am eyeing off that black polka dot pattern on that gold/spice fabric... Isn't it special? The skirt, the top or the dress? I wan't it ALL!
