The Instagram Moment..

So, I've recently joined 'Instagram' (I think I'm a bit of a late comer), for those that might not be familiar, it's a FREE photo sharing application for iPhones that allows you to connect stalk/view and share photos with pretty much anyone. So, you can pretty much follow your favourite designers, bloggers, fashionistas, photographers, artists, celebrities and random people who have a creative edge that is to your liking. I find it incredibly inspiring and addictive. It's a beautiful thing to capture a nice moment, whether you are out and about enjoying a beautifully day, fresh flowers, a clean space (don't you love a clean living room?), or a newly purchased item that you need someone else to appreciate - this app uninhibitedly allows you to do that. So, if you haven't yet joined, please do and if you are already an instagram enthusiast make sure you let me know in the comment or follow me 'decorislikebutter' and I will gladly reciprocate. Here are some moments that I've captured over the past few weeks...

My butler table - which I love - purchased from Provincial Living some years back.
Can't resist a tasty macaron - Woolworths have recently began selling them and I was AMAZED at how good they tasted..
One of my favourite lunchtime amusements - visiting the Hill of Content Bookshop on Bourke St, Melbourne. A great quiet place for browsing and looking for your next book purchase..
Spotted a dream sofa in a furniture store on High St, Armadale. Having trouble convincing hubby that we need a new sofa... Hmmm
From a recent business trip to India - hubby brought home a few fun gifts. Yay.

Join me on Instagram - 'decorislikebutter'. Look forward to following you.

A dark luxurious edge....

Stylist and editor Jackie Astier brings a slightly dark luxurious edge to this Upper East Side apartment. If you haven't seen this apartment in the March issue of Elle Decor then you might be missing out. There's a cool sense of freshness that lingers here with a hint of boldness. The lacquered ceiling (just below), the black dining wall (love love love), the velvet couches, chairs and bed headboard. The gorgeous rugs and all that black...So many great things! I can't help but admire Astier's spirited style... What about you.. Like not like?

Afternoon delight.....

Sometimes it's the most simple things that bring great moments of happiness. A quite moment with a new glossy mag (InStyle), some fresh flowers, and some baked goods - in this case apple and cinnamon pastries and I'm on cloud nine. Hope you'll be having lots of cloud nine moments this weekend...

An unexpected treasure...

I love flicking through old ELLE DECOR magazines and stumbling on unexpected decor treasures that you missed the first time round. This Soho loft belongs to a shoe designer William Frawley who has a penchant for collecting nude studies and is clearly a bit of a leather fan as well. I am completely drawn to this place, the anatomacially correct figures (reminds me of a this big sketch that I have which I stole from my sister which she did waaay back), the cheetah prints, the leather seating and all the interesting ornaments, including the ostrich eggs which he apparently found on ebay. How cool is that? And could we talk about the leather seating ... it's not something that you see done well that often, I usually try to stay away from it, but I have found myself craving for something leathery seating related...So how do you feel about leather seatting?
