I am so excited to share that I am leaving on a big overseas trip TOMORROW! It still hasn't quite hit me yet but I will be travelling over one month going to New York City, Washington DC, Miami and then taking a cruise to Tenerife, Palma, Barcelona, Nice, Florence and Rome. Trip of a lifetime? So far absolutely! I am so so excited to go to NYC to see all the beautiful sights that it has to offer, I'll be going to lots of art galleries, theatres (already booked tickets for Death of a Salesman with Phillip Seymour Hoffman directed by Mike Nichols - you know the guy who directed movies like 'Closer', 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf', 'The Graduate' and the list goes on....) And of course the shopping!!!! My next place that I am looking forward to seeing is Barcelona (mainly for architectural reasons - Gaudi's Basilica, I cannot wait to see that!). And of course ROME - I am only going to be there for three days, so I'm hoping that will be enough to see some of the amazing historical sites. I am renting a cosy little apartment there with a beautiful terrace overlooking old Rome buildings - to have the "Rome" experience - seems like a dream. And of course I am dying to see all the other mentioned places as well...You'd be crazy not to!
Looking for the right NYC guide....photo via instagram
Sagrada Familia Nave Room Detail - isn't that just magnificent? So 'Out of this World'.
I'll be uploading images of my trip to Instagram (decorislikebutter) and will try to upload some images on blogger too. Arrivederci for now...

The word "jealous" doesn't even begin to cover it!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds absolutely fantastic! And as for the best guide, I found the DK guide to NYC outstandingly brilliant. Best book ever. I bought the big version, which I kept in the apartment to read up on at the end of the evening, and then the little pocket version which went with us daily.
I do hope you have the most wonderful trip - how could you not? But I hope it is safe, too. xx
Thanks Virginia. I haven't actually bought a guide yet so thanks for that tip :) xx
DeleteYou LUCKY girl!!! OMG, I would love to be going to Barcelona and Rome with you. I LOVE both those places. Barcelona is wonderful, they eat late and sleep late. So much wonderful food that you can't even begin to sample it all. The tapas are amazing!!! Rome, I love it, too. Just a little advice that you probably already know, keep your purse or wallet concealed. I got robbed big time there. Their police didn't think it was anything to be upset about. I sure thought so, I kinda had no money left, no cards, nothing. So be street smart. I've been to NYC once, but didn't really spend much time there and didn't get a chance to do much. Oh my, you are going to have a blast!!! Barcelona and Venice are my favorite European cities.
ReplyDeleteBe safe, and have the time of your life!!!

Thanks so much. Oh I can't wait to sample the food in Barcelona now. Thanks for the tip re Rome. So sorry to hear that you got robbed - that would have been awful!! It's like a scene out of 'French Kiss' when meg ryan got robbed. I'm going to be clinging on to my bags now. xx
DeleteEnjoy! I think I managed to see all of Rome's popular sites within 2 days (that's 2 days of action packed adventures though!) I did the bus trip where they take you to the popular spots and you can get off, walk around and then get back on another bus, I think they go every 15 minutes or so?
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of NY though, that would be my dream destination!
Amazing. You would have been exhausted. I like the idea of being able to get off the buss at any time. Going to have to check it out. Thanks.
DeleteWow! What wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can manage the time to keep us posted while you are away.
Have a super trip.

wow that sounds absolutely amazing.. Gaudi park is also beautiful and just walking down some of the main streets is fun... the architecture is almost all Gaudi inspired and a visual treat.
ReplyDeleteRome is also wonderful.. my husband had just finished reading the Dan Brown book and insisted on every site mentioned in the book.. so we just walked and walked and walked. And enjoyed every minute of it.
As will you
